Larry Skelton

Larry Skelton of Hohenwald passed from this life on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 71.
Larry was extremely passionate about serving his community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, #1 Volunteer, and Member of the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund, one of the founders of the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund Car Show, and he was also instrumental in starting the Ticked off at Cancer Ride. He was a beloved Jr. Pro football coach and Little League baseball coach. He coached hundreds of kids during his time. He was the founder of the "Little Big Man Bowl" as well.

As a founding member of Lewis Co. Jr. Pro, he was an integral part of our program. With such a sad loss to our community, we established the "Larry Skelton Best All Around Award" for our football program.

Each year 1 child from each age division is selected to win this award in honor of Mr Skelton. Coaching staff watches each player throughout the season and gives the board recommendations on who they feel has earned this award. It is presented to the child who earned it at the end-of-year banquet.

Liberty "Libby" Mckay

Liberty “Libby” McKay (56) of Hohenwald passed away January 9th 2020

Libby was considered a homemaker, but spent all her time being a community activist.  Her mother said that this passion for helping others started at a very young age.  Mrs. McKay could be ill, but would still pull herself out of bed and hand out food and commodities to the communities in need. She had the biggest heart and would often take in lost boys and girls and help them get on their feet. They were very much a part of her family. Libby was the glue that held the family together. She loved her family more than anything and will be missed by so many.  She would often help with fundraisers for the JR. Pro teams and was even a softball coach and Girl Scout leader at one point.  She enjoyed life to the fullest.

As an integral part of our program, pouring her heart into fundraising, we established the "Libby McKay Spirit Award" in her honor for our cheer program

Each year 1 child from each age division is selected to win this award in honor of Ms McKay. Coaching staff watches each cheerleader throughout the season and gives the board recommendations on who they feel has earned this award. It is presented to the child who earned it at the end-of-year banquet.
